July EA – Technical information you can use

The July issue of Electrical Apparatus leads off with a technical article of great value, and includes a maintenance report from an exemplary facility.

• Stator Core Damage (Read an online summary of this article).  Anyone involved in evaluating the condition of a stator core that may require repair, such as V-stacking or replacing laminations, will want to read our informative, important technical article.

• S&C Electric EA's Engineering Editor Richard Nailen visited the Chicago headquarters of S&C Electric, a large and innovative electric power switching and protective equipment company, to report on their electric maintenance. Our July issue features his account, including photographs.

• Drug and Alcohol-free workplaces - Our Health and Safety Editor Dick Elsberry outlines ways to insure that your employees and company are safe from substance abuse problems.

• Electronics. Due to a printer's error, a feature article by Electronics Editor David Tryling was missing a page in our May issue.  The complete version is available now on our website - see "Don't forget the Drawings"  - and was reprinted in full in the June EA. Our July issue will feature another installment of his Automation column.

• Departments and Columns – July EA includes the popular "Let's Solve your Problem," Direct and Current, Business Briefs and other favorite departments.

PMM - Time for some changes?

Here at Barks Publications we make every effort to send you the information you want about Electrical Apparatus, the Electro-Mechanical Bench Reference and all of our Barks Books.  The Publisher's Market Memo (PMM) is a monthly memorandum designed for active players in our market. In August we will again send the PMM by US Mail.

After each mailing, we typically receive responses and questions. For example, last month we were glad to receive a photo from one industry representative, in response to mention the PMM made of our Electropix feature. The photo will appear in one of our next Electrical Apparatus issues - a "win" for him, and for EA!

With increased use of the internet, however, we've noticed that responses to the mailed PMM have slowed a bit.  With this issue we are experimenting with an online format, in the hope that it will be more convenient and timely for you.  Please let us know what you think!

Closing Dates for Coming Issues (Space Reservations)

Electrical Apparatus is mailed the last week of the month preceding the date of issue. The annual Electromechanical Bench Reference, carrying the next year's date, is mailed the last week of November. 

Material closing dates (when fully corrected negatives or electronic ad files are due) are one week after dates shown below. Ship all ad material to Barks Publications, Inc., 400 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 900, Chicago, IL  60611-4104. When shipping film, disks or proofs close to deadline, avoid "First Class" and "Priority" mail; use bonded next day air couriers or USPS "Express Mail."
