EASA's latest 'Tech Tip"
Here's the latest from EASA's "Tech Tips" series, which is available on its website. The topic is insulation.
Electrical insulating materials (EIM) are materials suitable for providing electrical isolation between parts at different voltage (e.g., tapes, varnishes, resins and composites).
Most EIM have a shelf life – store them in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and ensure that expired items are dispositioned accordingly.
Expired shelf life doesn’t always mean the material cannot be used – manufacturers can often evaluate lots of material and extend the shelf life where warranted. Aside from EIM, shelf life controls should also be implemented for adhesives, lubricants, paints and any other applicable materials.
