Border States employees help save a life in heartwarming story

A recent story involving the quick thinking, resourcefulness, and training of a employees from a well-known electrical distributor reminds us of the sanctity of life and the importance of safety training. A handful of workers from Border States saved a life when one of their fellow team members suffered a heart attack recently, acting quickly and using a defibrillator.

"We are so incredibly proud of the actions of four employee-owners from our Fargo, North Dakota, branch, which made all the difference when one of their fellow team members experienced a heart attack," Border States posted on Facebook May 16.

"Through fast, decisive action and CPR training, Duane Jannson, Warehouse Associate; Dustin Fabre, Inventory Control Coordinator; Tyler Pich, Account Manager; and Jon Becker, Branch Manager, ensured their colleague received life-saving intervention before paramedics arrived on the scene."

These employee-owners were honored with Citizens Lifesaving Awards by Sanford Ambulance and are a testament to the importance of learning CPR and, as Border States added, "living our safety culture".

We'd all do well to remember this next time we're tempted to drift off during a safety meeting at work. Great work by the Border States team and all of us at EA wish a full recovery to the injured colleague.
