Solar-powered exhibit comes to Austin this fall
An outdoor exhibit featuring renewable energy and sustainable lighting is now on display in Austin, Texas for the duration of the fall season and through Christmas.
'Field of Light', a three month exhibition inspired by the work of British-Australian artist Bruce Munro, will take place at Auston's Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center from September 9 through December 30. There will be giant dill pickles and local beverages.
Illuminating 16 acres in the Arboretum at the Wildflower Center, Field of Light is said to be "a stunning display of 28,000 stemmed spheres that are subtly lit by solar powered fiber-optics."
The exhibition showcases the intersection of art, technology and nature. The installation unites with the outdoors in an effort to celebrate the natural topography of the landscape and create "an immersive and emotional experience for guests," according to the project website.
