New EV factory contract inked for Illinois
Governor JB Pritzker and Gotion joined local Illinois leaders and officials to announce the company's decision to locate its new state-of-the-art $2 billion electric vehicle (EV) lithium battery manufacturing plant in Manteno following a competitive nationwide search. Bolstered by Reimagining Energy and Vehicles (REV Illinois) incentives and the newly-created Invest in Illinois Fund, the $2 billion investment represents the largest EV battery production investment in Illinois to date, and the most significant manufacturing investment in Illinois in decades. The plant is expected to begin production in 2024. Read key highlights here.
The announcement comes on the heels of significant company expansions, re-locations and milestones in the EV and clean energy space this summer, including: Manner Polymers’ decision to locate its new manufacturing facility in Mount Vernon, Prysmian Group's expansion in Du Quoin, Lion Electric’s grand opening in Joliet, breaking ground on TCCI Manufacturing’s Innovation Hub, and Microlink Device’s manufacturing expansion in Niles.
