Nidec Reform
Kaida named president and CEO following Kishida's resignation
Nidec has named Michio Kaida president and CEO following Mitsuya Kishida's resignation, the company confirmed last week.
The electric-motor manufacturer announced that Mitsuya Kishida resigned as representative director, president and CEO, and Michio Kaida, previously executive vice president and chief technology officer, was appointed president and CEO.
The change comes amid Nidec's response to accounting and governance problems; Kaida said at an October 1 briefing that restoring trust is a priority.

"Nidec Corporation hereby announces that Mitsuya Kishida, Representative Director and President Chief Executive Officer, resigned from his positions as Representative Director and President Chief Executive Officer, effective September 29, 2026," read a corporate notice posted to the company's website that same day. "Accordingly, at the extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors held on September 29, 2026, the Board of Directors resolved to appoint a new President and a new Representative Director, and nominate a candidate for Director, as set forth below." The company proceeded to appoint Kaida to the top position(s).
The description of the meeting as "extraordinary" is of note, considering the stakes for one of the world's more lucrative companies attempting to rebound from the exposure of unsavory accounting practices. To top things off, the webcast briefing held October 1 was entitled "Transformation toward Nidec reform".
