Q&A on Bearings

Take note of the upcoming AEGIS forum: August 27th at 11 AM Eastern

The next AEGIS webinar, "AEGIS Open Forum: Q&A" will be on Wednesday, August 27th, at 11 AM ET. This is your chance to ask the expert!

Ken Wegrzyn, Key Account Manager for AEGIS in North America, will begin with a quick 15 minute overview, then we will open up for a question-and-answer session. Some topics that may be discussed are:

  • Bearing frosting, fluting, & failure.

  • The risk of VFD-sourced shaft voltages, bearing current, and electrical bearing damage.

  • Detection of motor shaft voltages.

  • Shaft grounding best practices for bearing protection of AC & DC motors.

For years, Electro Static Technology, an ITW company, has produced the patented AEGIS shaft grounding ring, used in millions of motors around the world to protect motor bearings from electrical discharge.

The product, still made in the U.S.A. in Mechanic Falls, Maine, helps prevent electrical bearing damage, motor failure, and expensive downtime, and is used in manufacturing, HVAC, transportation, energy, water treatment, electric vehicles, and other commercial and industrial applications. AEGIS rings are included by many motor manufacturers, and can be retrofit to existing motors.
