Ford will reportedly lay off ~8,000 as it focuses on electrics
It's not just batteries, high prices, and scarce charging infrastructure. The 'EV revolution' is negatively affecting the human workforce, too. Bloomberg News reported Wednesday that Ford is expected to lay off around 8,000 workers in connection to its electric vehicle platform.
"The eliminations will come in the newly created Ford Blue unit responsible for producing internal combustion engine vehicles, as well as other salaried operations throughout the company, said the people, who asked not to be identified revealing internal discussions. The plan has not yet been finalized and details could still change."—Bloomberg News
The article added that Ford CEO Jim Farley's plan for the company likely influenced the potential cuts. Farley has previously pledged to cut $3 billion of costs for the automaker by 2026, along with splicing the company into two distinct electric and non-electric branches: Model e and Ford Blue.
Ford employs about 31,000 salaried workers in the US
