The electromechanical industry received sad news last week in learning that Florian Schneeberger, former CEO of B&R Automation and noted Olympian, tragically passedÂ
away in a bus accident in Salzburg, Austria, on April 20.
Mr. Schneeberger was 55 years old. Known for his athletic achievements in addition to his business resume, he competed in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta alongside sailing partner Andreas Hagara.

Schneeberger also had a successful career in industry, eventually becoming a division leader at ABB, which is headquartered in Switzerland and has a longstanding presence in Europe.
"His death has left a void in both the sporting and business communities, where he was respected for his contributions and professionalism," ABB said in a statement.
