A Long Way From Double A
Battery Show 2026 preview
When it comes to battery technology and its applications in electric vehicles, the home of the automobile has become an annual mecca. The Detroit-hosted Battery Show is set to enter its 12th year, running from October 12th to 15th at Huntington Place in the Motor City. Here's a synopsis of this year's agenda.

Conference tracks and topics will include:
1) Battery Chemistry, Materials and Cell Innovation: solid-state commercialization, silicon anodes, sodium-ion, advanced materials and the technologies competing beyond today's lithium-ion landscape.
2) Electrified Vehicle Systems and Powertrain Integration: next-generation EV architectures, battery platforms, charging, recycling and the changing electrification market.
3) Battery Manufacturing and Supply Chain Industrialization: gigafactory execution, manufacturing scale-up, critical minerals, localization, quality and the realities of building competitive battery production.
4) Energy Storage and Grid Applications: AI and data-center demand, sodium-ion, long-duration storage, BESS economics, grid interconnection and the next wave of storage deployment.
5) Advanced Air Mobility and Electrified Aviation: battery performance, certification, charging infrastructure, thermal safety and the path from demonstration to commercial flight.
