A look at the current tariff situation with Canada
With a constant stream of noise regarding tariffs on Canadian goods, here's a look at what mandates are currently in play on our northern neighbors, and vice-versa, as of March 13. Note that the current U.S. administration has suggested increases to some of these numbers which aren't yet official. All of the information below is subject to change.
U.S. Tariffs on Canadian Goods: The U.S. has imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian goods imported into the U.S. and a 10% tariff targeting energy exports from Canada, according to analyzify.com.
Canadian Tariffs on U.S. Goods: Effective March 4, 2025, Canada is imposing 25% tariffs on $30 billion in goods imported from the U.S., according to www.canada.ca
Canadian Customs Tariff: The current Canadian Customs Tariff files show various tariff treatments from countries with which Canada has tariff arrangements, according to cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
Potential Increase in Canadian Counter Tariffs: If U.S. tariffs are maintained, Canada may increase its counter tariffs to $155 billion, according to www.canada.ca.

Meanwhile, on March 7, multiple Canadian Ministers of Agriculture from various provinces reaffirmed their commitment in taking a united "Team Canada" approach to support the agriculture and agri-food sector in response to tariffs being levied by the United States, according to a press release from the Canadian government.
