A new Toshiba remote racking system for circuit breakers
CBS ArcSafe, the Denton, Texas manufacturer of remote racking and switching solutions for low- and medium-voltage switchgear, has introduced the RRS-3 VY Toshiba, per a September 9 press release sent to Electrical Apparatus. The remote racking system lets technicians operate Toshiba VY-30M25A circuit breakers (rotary racking only) from up to 300 feet away, putting them safely outside the arc flash boundary.
The RRS-3 VY Toshiba’s fast installation, automated operation, and easy removal help reduce operator fatigue and increase efficiency when crews are working on multiple breakers during large commissioning or scheduled maintenance jobs. The system requires no modifications to existing equipment.

At 18.5 pounds, the RRS-3 VY Toshiba is portable enough to easily move between units. The system draws 100 W and operates through the RSO-IV-M18 control console, which is powered by a Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM battery pack. Operating distances from 12 to 300 feet give crews flexibility to set up at a distance appropriate to the room, the equipment, and their site’s safety procedures.
Because the operator never makes manual contact with the gear during racking, the system also reduces or eliminates the need for arc flash hazard suits. Request a quote here.
