West Virginia training program continues to seek applicants
From the fittingly named town of Hurricane, West Virginia, a storm is a-brewin' when it comes to advanced manufacturing and successful training programs. The Kanawha Valley FAME chapter is building on past success and seeking further applicants from employers who can host apprentices within the program. It's a win-win for jobseekers and short-staffed industrial operations in the area. Is it any wonder?
Due to the high number of apprenticeship applications received, the Kanawha Valley Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education chapter seeks employers to join the skilled industrial maintenance apprenticeship program.
Over 100 applications were received for 27 apprenticeship slots in the previous apprentice recruiting season, the largest application response in the programs history. The Kanawha Valley FAME chapter seeks additional employers to ensure that as many qualified applicants can participate in the apprenticeship program as possible.
Regional companies that need help to recruit skilled industrial maintenance technicians should contact the Putnam County Development Authority, the nonprofit sponsor of the Kanawha Valley FAME program, at 304-757-0318 or pcda@pcda.org.
Apprentices in the Kanawha Valley FAME chapter will learn advanced manufacturing maintenance skills, such as repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment, including automated control systems, process control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, robots, and application-specific machinery.
