Mitsubishi Electric to take full ownership of MEDCOM



Aiming to strengthen global business base centering on Europe, Mitsubishi Electric has announced it will wholly acquire Poland-based MEDCOM, manufacturer of electrical equipment for railcars. making the company a wholly owned member of the Mitsubishi Electric Group. The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the first half of Mitsubishi Electric’s fiscal year ending March 2027.


MEDCOM designs, manufactures and services auxiliary power supply systems, propulsion control systems and other industrial power electronics equipment, primarily for the European market. Mitsubishi Electric first invested in MEDCOM in 2016, and the companies have since collaborated on advanced rail technologies. Notably, MEDCOM has incorporated Mitsubishi Electric’s silicon carbide (SiC) power devices into rail equipment designed to deliver higher output while reducing size and weight.


Mitsubishi Electric plans to use MEDCOM as a European base for developing and manufacturing components and solutions, while expanding MEDCOM’s power electronics technologies beyond transportation into other infrastructure markets.
