FirstEnergy names new VP of Generation Project Development
FirstEnergy Corp., the Akron, Ohio-based utility, has named Jon Dormo its Vice President of Generation Project Development, per a September 3 press release.
Reporting to Chris Beam (FirstEnergy's President of West Virginia and Maryland) Dormo is set to "lead efforts to plan and develop new power generation projects that help meet customers' future energy needs," FirstEnergy said. It's something many utilities consider a critical role as electricity demand continues to grow at a rapid pace.

Beam said of Dormo: “Jon brings a proven track record of leading complex energy projects and a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence and developing high-performing teams. His expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue advancing our generation strategy, strengthening our fleet and delivering long-term value for our customers. We are excited to welcome Jon to this important role and look forward to the impact he will make.”
Dormo brings nearly 20 years of experience in the energy industry across engineering, construction, operations, development, project management and strategic planning. Most recently, he served as Managing Director, Projects, at American Electric Power (AEP), where he led the siting and construction of AEP’s new generation capital plan while maintaining responsibility for major project safety, environmental and construction across AEP’s generation fleet.
