Bootmaker donates $25K worth of shoes to firefighters in Spokane

The plight of wildfire victims, and the firefighters who combat them, is well documented of late. Businesses have taken notice and are trying to do their part to provide assistance. For example, Bootmaker JK Boots, a family-owned operation based in Spokane, Washington, redirected all of its profits from August 5 towards hometown residents affected by recent events.

"Our home is on fire, and we need your help this WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5. This Wednesday, every sale sends 100% OF PROFITS straight to the Spokane residents who lost their homes. In every store," JK Boots posted on its Facebook page that day. "Everywhere online. All day...Not a percentage of one product. 100% of profits, on everything for one day."

Additional info on the JK website dubbed it "Homefront Day," noting that "50 pairs donated for the crews...For all active firefighting personnel working on the Spokane fires: come in to the store, get fitted, and walk out in new boots. No break-in needed. From our floor to the fire line on the same day."

The company also organized "a recharge station for the firefighters." "Open now at JK Boots HQ. We are offering hot coffee, hot food, water. A place to wash up, cool off, and rest for all the crews fighting these fires. Our break room is yours. Daily, 7AM-9PM at our 10220 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley location."
