Wisconsin's largest ever solar farm is a go
The Public Service Commission (PSCW) of Wisconsin has approved construction of Vista Sands Solar Farm, near the towns of Plover and Grant in Portage County, "a transformational solar development" that will be the largest solar project in the state's history.
Taking place over approximately 8,500 acres of private land, the project is planned to have a capacity of 1.3 gigawatt (GW). The site is owned by Doral LLC. Doral Renewables, headquartered in Philadelphia, "stands as a steadfast ally to farmers across the United States, championing sustainable energy solutions and driving economic development," according to its website.
"It will transform the area with new jobs, added tax revenues, and long-term environmental benefits for current and future generations," Vista Sands said on the project website.
Once complete, the development is expected to generate around 2.1 million MWh per year.
