Klixon motor protector maker releasing new product
Sensata Technologies, known around motor shops for manufacturing the 90-year old Klixon motor protector and thermal protector products, announced October 15 plans to showcase its latest aerospace innovation, the "Digital Inceptor", at the NBAA-BACE conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 22-24.
As advanced air mobility evolves, the demand for lightweight, reliable pilot controls increases. Sensata, which makes high-volume, multi-axis inceptors, leveraged its micro-RVDT technology and a modular design to create the lightest passive inceptor on the market. Â
Sensata’s Digital Inceptor features a compact design that integrates seamlessly into aircraft structures, offering single-axis to four-axis control. Its weight-optimized, three-axis models weigh less than 3.175 kilograms (7 pounds) and includes single-point of failure mitigation features for enhanced reliability.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned Klixon Thermostats provide a normally closed contact which opens within +5°C of its rated temperature. It recloses 20°C below it’s opening temperature. Winding protection in electric motors is a critical aspect of ensuring the longevity and reliable operation of the motor.
