Worker's death occurred in tragedy from electrical accident in late June
Zeus Industrial of Gaston, South Carolina has released a statement following the death of one of their employees, Mayra Parrilla Guerrero of local news outlet WIS10 reported July 3.
"According to the Calhoun County Coroner’s Office authorities were dispatched to the Gaston plant on Monday, June 24 and found 56-year-old Timothy McCormick unconscious. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead on Wednesday, June 26," Guerrero reported. The Gaston facility is pictured below.
The manufacturing plant said in a statement McCormick was a maintenance technician at their Columbia facility, who was involved in a “serious electrical accident.” Headquartered in Orangeburg, S.C., Zeus has multiple locations in the state as well as others in the U.S. and abroad. The company manufactures products for a number of industries, specializing in polymer extrusion, fiber optics, and tubing for medical products such as catheters. It also has applications in aerospace since its founding in 1966.

“We are profoundly saddened by the passing of one of our valued team members following a workplace incident.
On Monday, June 24, 2024, Timothy McCormick, a maintenance technician at our Columbia facility, was involved in a serious electrical accident. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention but, sadly, died on June 26.
Our hearts go out to the McCormick family, friends, and colleagues grieving this devastating loss. We are committed to supporting them through this difficult time. Counseling services are being offered to our team members who have been affected by this tragedy. We ask for privacy during this time of mourning.
The safety and well-being of our team members remains our highest priority. We have conducted an extensive review of the incident and have further enhanced our safety protocols to prevent any future occurrences.”
