Aquarium Bursts in Berlin

Crazy scene as "tsunami" pours out of tank into street causing injury and damage


A massive cylindrical aquarium—by some measures, the world's largest—burst into the surrounding hotel, building and to the street outside in Berlin, Germany this past week. Most reports say that only about 30 fish were saved of the approximately 1,500 exotic species housed in the tank.


"We are still with about 100 emergency services and college. the @Berliner_Fw in #Mitte in use," the Berlin Police Department tweeted following the incident. "In addition to the incredible maritime damage, 2 people were injured by glass splinters according to the current status. Please continue to drive around the area."
