American businesses are starting to consider EV applications
Custom clad metal wire, rod, and ribbon that can combine up to three materials to achieve specific performance characteristics for designing electric vehicle batteries and charging stations has been introduced by Anomet Products of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Anomet Clad Metal Products says it can "combine up to three layers of materials to provide specific properties such as high conductivity, optimum corrosion resistance, and superior performance in extreme temperatures." The company has products featuring metallurgical bonds it claims are stronger than the weaker material, that can be supplied as wire, ribbon, and rod for designing EV battery busbars and connectors.
Custom manufactured, Anomet Clad Metal Products are said to incorporate 2% or more cladding thickness and wire and rod are offered in sizes from 0.004” to 2” O.D. and the ribbon 1” wide. Typical fuel cells include copper, aluminum, and silver cores and inconel, Kovar®, nickel-iron, niobium, Nitinol®, molybdenum, stainless steel, tantalum, and titanium external layers.
Anomet Clad Metal Products are "typically 10 times less expensive than solid precious metal products." Price quotations and samples are available.
