Michigan State basketball coach to give keynote at trade show in May

At the end of today's workday, Michigan State's prestigious men's basketball program will look to continue another run to the Final Four when it faces off against Kansas State in the NCAA tournament (6:30 EST on CBS).

So it's safe to say the team's coach, Tom Izzo, will be occupied. He'll also be gathering potential material for a keynote speech in a couple months, as he's slated to speak at Automate in Detroit (May 22 at 9:00 AM EST).

The legendary Izzo will kick off Automate as the opening keynote Monday, May 22 at 9 a.m., sharing invaluable leadership lessons from his tenure as head coach of the Michigan State men’s basketball program for 24 seasons. The Automate Show and Conference is the leading automation showcase in North America and is free to attend.

Izzo held a career record of 606-232 heading into the 2023 season; the fifth-most wins of any college coach; and has eight Final Fours under his belt. But perhaps, most importantly, 86% of his players left with a college degree.

“As a Hall of Fame college basketball coach, Izzo has crucial insights to share about how to establish a team culture that leads to success—in business endeavors and beyond,” said Jeff Burnstein, president of A3. “We’re thrilled to have him kick off Automate on an exciting and inspiring note.”

Izzo is one of five keynote speeches that will take place throughout the show, along with a full lineup of educational sessions at the Automate Theater, all free to attendees.

Automate takes place May 22-25 in Detroit, and anyone who works with or is interested in automation can attend for free. Automate 2023 will be the biggest yet, featuring 300,000 square feet of exhibit space, 600+ exhibitors, 25,000 attendees, and valuable learning and networking opportunities. Attendees will see the latest in cutting-edge robotics, vision, artificial intelligence, motion control and more.

In conjunction with the free show, the paid Automate Conference will feature accomplished industry professionals in over 150 talks. Those looking to sharpen their skills or deepen their automation knowledge should sign up for these educational conference sessions to get practical solutions, discover the latest innovations or learn from real-world case studies.

Conference attendees can also take advantage of Certified Vision Professional courses in basic and advanced tracks, and Certified Motion Control Professional - Basic courses culminating in an exam to secure professional certification (exam fees are separate).
