Britain's longest reigning monarch passed away today at 96
Today, we include the rare story not related to our industry but too important to omit. Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest reigning monarch in history, has died today at age 96. She ruled for over 70 years.
The news comes on the heels of Britain's recent announcement that Liz Truss will serve as the country's newest Prime Minister. Truss was confirmed by Queen Elizabeth and Parliament earlier this week.
The Queen reportedly died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she was joined by many of the royal family over the preceding few hours as her health deteriorated.
Her death will have political ramifications including the British line of succession. Elizabeth's son, Charles, will now become King of England—its first king since George VI died in 1952. Charles is 73 years old.
